The existing environment needed clearer separation between traffic types while preserving the access people and systems required. The project involved Fortinet firewall engineering and UniFi switching and wireless.
The design accounted for the wired links and management paths behind the wireless service rather than treating Wi-Fi as an independent installation.
Hands-on implementation
Jaen’s work included firewall and VLAN configuration, uplink and aggregation work, controller placement and adoption, and adjustments to permitted access between networks.
He also helped staff understand how to move devices into the appropriate networks so subsequent changes could follow the design.
