Professional project example
Cisco campus network engineering.
Work on an established campus network combined configuration correction, redundancy checks, and documentation across core, distribution, access, and specialized audio networking.
Discuss your projectThe environment
The campus used Cisco Nexus core switching, Catalyst stacks and access switches, Cisco small-business switches, and another manufacturer’s switching. Specialized audio systems added dependencies beyond ordinary office access.
The work needed to account for the existing design rather than replace it with a generic office-network configuration.
The engineering work
Jaen’s project work included checking core redundancy and uplink health, correcting time synchronization, standardizing unused-port security where appropriate, and addressing native VLAN mismatches.
The documentation brought together switch identities, physical connections, active ports, unused ports, and known configuration details. Specialized links and audio requirements were kept distinct from general office access.
Making the network easier to maintain
This was work across an inherited Cisco campus environment, not simply adding a switch. It involved understanding connections and dependencies, making targeted corrections, and leaving a reference for later troubleshooting and changes.
Project examples reflect Jaen’s professional experience, including work delivered through other IT providers. Client details are kept private.
